it seems to me that there is a disproportionate amount of jws who are involved in kinesiology or hk (health kinesiology).
i mean, if i asked the average guy or gal where i worked if putting a crystal on your bellybutton, moving your arm up and down and charging $100 to cure your ills made any sense they would say, hell no!.
KNOWSNOTHING - so here's where I'm coming from personally...
Got seriously ill, went to a homeopathic 'doctor' (a witness).... It did NOTHING.
Went to several Health Kinesiology persons(witnesses).... It did NOTHING.
Went to MANY conventional doctors - nothing helped....
Until I went to NYC to a doctor at a major teaching hospital who LISTENED TO ME.
After ONE VISIT the doctor prescribed me a medication that CHANGED MY LIFE!
Et voila!

i like to read crackpot theories in books or on the internet and i find that there is way, way too much confidence being placed in the rich, detached, corrupt leaders of our civilization.. whether they are an imf chief bellowing, "do you know who i am?
" to a frightened, lying housekeeper, after leaving his "dna" behind (on her uniform) or a bumbling president who can't remember his own daughter's age - or number of states in the union, - these guys are humans like the rest of us.
(unless you really think queen elizabeth is an alien reptile - who agonizes over her dumbass, inbred son, charlie).. here are three reasons why the rich, elevated, international elite are clueless and running scared - or are too dumb or drunk to think otherwise:.

KNOWSNOTHING - I definitely agree that the placebo effect is very powerful, and I believe that is what is at work here.
BAFH - I am glad it did work for you, and yes, it seems there is a split between JWs who think it is an effective treatment and those who think it is spiritistic.
SINIS - I have no doubt that 'western medicine' is seriously flawed, an that there are many electromagnetic forces at work in our bodies, I just think the Health Kinesiology approach is at best a placebo effect.
Hell, in the end, whatever makes you feel good works for me. I just found it odd how many witnesses are into it.

But there are SO MANY witnesses caught up in this pseudo-medical nonsense.
Could it possibly be that the belief system that allows for all of the gobbledegook the society feeds them also allows for a world where magnets, invisible fields, crystals and moving your arm up and down while asking silly questions enables belief in all of this crap?
well i have been lurking for the past couple of weeks and have finally decided to create an account.
just wanted to introduce myself and relate my life story in the borg, specifically from the past few weeks- which i think has been a lot easier than many on the board.
anyway, my mum began to study when i was 10 (2005) and since then has been babtized; she strongly believes it is the truth.
ISEENOW - I would like to welcome you and commend you for your maturity! The fact that you have thought all this through at such a young age is remarkable! I wish I could have done that! It took me close to 40 years to figure this all out.
As long as you are not baptized, you've got nothing to worry about as far as your family. They have no 'reason' to shun you if you decide to go your own way....

i've read on-line that the suicide rate for jws is 4x that of 'worldly' people.
that figure doesn't sound too shocking to me, and i'd expect it to be even higher among teens... especially those who would be already considered 'at risk' even without the jw element.. but i still haven't seen any actual published statistics.
Would 'conscientious objection' to blood transfusions be included in this suicide rate?

The 'Smurf Thing" was BIG here in the NYC metro area, I think esp. because of our proximity to bethel and all of their weird, superstitious nonsense beliefs.

SOUR GRAPES - I hear you! This expression is certainly one of the most grating to me as well. When you realize it's part of the loaded language that's been programmed into every publisher it's quite an eye opener. Then it gets annoying.
When I hear my wife use the term I feel like shaking her and saying THERE IS NO 'THIS SYSTEM' OR 'THAT SYSTEM'! THIS IS LIFE AND WE'RE LIVING IT!
AUNTBEE - was just thinking about this today. I would like to find an individual who in their independent reading of the bible finds any prohibition of blood transfusions, let alone all the nonsense about fractions, etc....
I remember the elders school where they went over the 'newest light' about fractions, and how we were supposed to 'help' the publishers make the right choice by directing them to certain WT articles.....
...and what if the publishers had questions regarding fractions? Immediately direct them to said WT article. That's it. Do not try to reason with them. BECAUSE THE WHOLE DAMN THING DOES NOT MAKE A LICK OF SENSE!!!!
